Nick walked down the
hall of the studio where he was recording a solo album. He looked up and saw
Brizee Hardin coming out of a room. He never met her but has been a fan of hers
since she had won a record deal on the show, American Idol. She looked up and
saw him.
“You are Nick Carter
of the Backstreet Boys, aren’t you,”
Brizee said.
“Yes, I am, and
you are Brizee Hardin, Country’s newest
superstar and winner of American Idol Season 4, I have been a fan since I saw
the show, you are an awesome singer,” Nick said. Brizee smiled.
“So are you, so
are you here with the guys recording a new
album?” Brizee said.
“No, I’m recording
my second solo album, while on break from
the group, I’m recording when I’m not doing anything with the guys,” Nick said.
“Cool, you guys
are my favorite group and I did buy your
first solo album and the songs were awesome, my favorite one was Heart Without
A Home,” Brizee said.
“My favorite song
of yours is Cowboy Casanova,” Nick said.
Brizee smiled.
“I like singing
that song, too, my new album is going to be
awesome,” Brizee said.
“Are you done for
the day?” Nick asked.
“Yes, you?”
Brizee asked.
“Yup, let’s
grab a bite to eat,” Nick said. Brizee nodded and
they went out to eat.
Two months later, they
were a couple and became the hottest couple on the music scene. Brian, Howie,
and AJ met her and they all instantly became friends as did Brizee, Rochelle,
Leighanne, and Leigh. They were at Nick’s house for a barbecue. Brizee got a
text.
“Hey, they are showing
my brand new video in a few minutes,”
Brizee said. They went inside and gathered around the TV. Brizee turned it to
the country music channel.
“Here is Brizee
Hardin’s brand new video, Blown Away,” the
announcer said. They watched the video.

Dry
lightning cracks across the skies
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Her daddy was a mean old mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weather man called for a twister
She prayed blow it down
There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past
[Chorus:]
Shatter every window 'til it’s all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'til there’s nothing left standing,
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown
away
She heard those sirens screaming out
Her daddy laid there passed out on the couch
She locked herself in the cellar
Listened to the screaming of the wind
Some people called it taking shelter
She called it sweet revenge
[Chorus:]
Shatter every window 'til it’s all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'til there’s nothing left standing,
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away
There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past
Shatter every window 'til it’s all blown away (blown away)
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away (blown away)
'til there’s nothing left standing,
Nothing left of yesterday (blown away)
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away
(Song: Blown Away By Carrie
Underwood)

She turned the TV off and got up and
went out back. They all looked at each other. Nick went out and sat down beside
her.
“What’s
wrong,” Nick said.
“That
was a true story, Nick, the video, what happened in it, it’s all true, I let my
father die in a tornado, I didn’t do anything to get him to the cellar, I just
left him passed out and went and took shelter and when it was over, the house
was destroyed and my father was dead,” Brizee said.
“And
your mother is gone, too?” Nick asked.
“Car
accident about three years before that tornado,” Brizee said. Nick took her
hand in his.
“I’m
sorry,” Nick said.
“Am
I a bad person?” Brizee asked.
“No,
you did try to wake him, right,” Nick said.
“Yeah,”
Brizee said.
“You
tried to wake him but you couldn’t get him to, and you couldn’t do anything but
take shelter because if you didn’t, you wouldn’t be here today,” Nick said.
“But
it is still my fault, I went and took shelter and left my dad on the couch, in
bad weather,” Brizee said.
