Nick pulled up in front
of the home of his best friend, Bri. He has been trying to get ahold of her for
three days and it was so unlike her to not return his calls. He had been on
tour with his music group, Backstreet Boys, and she had told him to call when
he got home from the tour and they would hang out. He called when he got home
and got the answering machine. He left a message and got no call back so he
called and left another one. He got worried after three days of calling and no
reply. He walked up to the door and rang the bell. He used his key and went in.
“Bri!” Nick
called. He checked the whole house and no one was
home. He checked for a note and there wasn’t one. He checked her machine and
there was messages from him, her folks, and her boss. She hadn’t been
to work in three days and he
knew that was so unlike her because she loved her job. He called the guys. He
called her folks. He saw her purse and cell phone and keys on the counter. He
knew she wouldn’t go anywhere without her stuff. He checked the garage and her
car was there. Ten minutes later, Howie and AJ showed up.
“Nick, what is it,”
AJ said.
“Bri’s missing,”
Nick said.
“Are you sure,”
AJ said.
“She hasn’t
answered her phone or called me back in the past
three days, her purse, car, cell, keys are here on the counter, messages on the
machine from her folks, me, and her boss, she hasn’t been at work the past
three days, and you both know how much she loves her job, she wouldn’t miss a
day unless she called in,” Nick said.
“Okay, let’s
call the cops, don’t touch anything else so in
case someone took her, they can get fingerprints if there is any that isn’t
hers or ours or her family,” Howie said. He called the cops. Nick’s cell phone
rang. He saw it was his dad.
“Hey Dad, I’m
glad you called, Bri’s missing, her stuff is
here, she hasn’t been to work in three days and Howie is on the phone with the
cops now, what, where, are you sure, see what you can find out, bye,” Nick
said. He hung up.
“Nick,” AJ
said.
“Dad said my boat
is missing and he tracked the GPS to the
family compound in Marathon,” Nick said.
“Maybe it’s
Aaron,” AJ said.
“No, the only people
who have keys is me, my dad, and Bri, my
dad has his keys, Aaron’s in LA with Angel,” Nick said.
“But Bri’s
keys are here,” AJ said. Nick looked at the keys.
“The key to the
boat is gone,” Nick said.
“Yeah, officer,
we may know something, her best friend’s boat
is in Marathon, she has a key to it, his father is heading down there now,
okay, thank you,” Howie said. He hung up.
“They are calling
the Marathon PD to have them meet your dad
there, let’s go,” Howie said. They called Brian and Kevin and headed down
there.
