Nick arrived at his best friend’s house. He knocked and went in.

        “Brian!” Nick called.

        “Hey Frack, in the kitchen,” Brian said. He went in and saw Brian sitting at the table eating some lunch.

        “Hey, I thought we could go to this place by the beach to eat, there is this band that plays there a lot,” Nick said.

        “You want to check out a band,” Brian said.

        “Yeah, I ran into this guy at the store, we got to talking and he said he is a member of this band that plays there, it’s him, his two best friends, his sister and her best friend, two girls, three guys, he recognized me and he wants us to come check them out to see if they have what it takes for a record deal,” Nick said.

        “Nick,” Brian said.

        “Brian, I told him that I couldn’t help him get one, he said they have an audition with Columbia Records and he just wants us to check them out to see if they have what it takes before going so that they won’t be upset if they were told they weren’t good enough,” Nick said.    

        “All right, let’s go,” Brian said. He cleaned up the kitchen and went to change and got his hat and they went to the restaurant.  They saw the band setting up. AJ and Howie were sitting in a booth by the stage. Nick and Brian sat down. A guy came over.

        “Hey,” he said.

        “Guys, this is Matt,” Nick said.

        “Nice to meet you,” Brian said.

        “Same here, you guys are awesome, thanks for coming, I know you can’t help us get one, we are going on our own and we won’t mention you guys, we just want you to listen to see if we have what it takes,” Matt said.

        “Okay,” Brian said. Matt waved the band over.

        “This is Tony, he plays drums, this is Jake, he plays guitar, this is my sister, Hayley, she sings and plays keyboards sometimes, and this is Alicia, she plays bass guitar,” Matt said. They all shook hands. Hayley stared at Nick who smiled at her.

        “Nice to meet you all,” AJ said looking at Alicia who was gazing at him.

        “Same here,” Alicia said.

        “Let’s do it, guys,” Matt said. They went and played one song. Howie, AJ, Nick, and Brian looked at each other and nodded. After the band was done, they got off stage and came over to them.

        “All we can say is go for it, take a shot at getting a record deal, you never know what might happen unless you go for it,” AJ said.
