Brizee sat there at the park, watching her four friends play basketball on the basketball court. She had played and
was resting while her friends played. She had the perfect life and the best friends anyone could have. She only wish she could
fill the void in her life and her heart. She secretly married Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. They had only known each
other for two months before getting married. No one know of their relationship, not even his bandmates, his family, or her
friends. She left him when she found his ex-girlfriend in their bed. Nick wasn’t home at the time. Brizee left a note
and packed up her stuff and left before he came home. She changed her cell phone number and moved to Orlando
where she reconnected with her best friends, Alicia, Tanya, Carly, and Melissa. They came over and sat down.
“That was fun,” Alicia
said.
“Yeah,” Tanya said.
“Who won?” Brizee asked.
“Me and Ali,” Tanya said.
“They cheated,” Carly
said.
“No, we didn’t,”
Alicia said.
“Guys, um, don’t look
now, but over at the picnic table is Brian, Leighanne, AJ, Howie, Leigh, and Nick,” Melissa said. Brizee froze.
“Are they looking at us?”
Carly asked.
“Well Nick is looking at one
of us, and her name starts with a B,” Alicia said.
“Maybe he likes her,”
Melissa said.
“He hasn’t seen my face,”
Brizee said quietly. She got up and got her bag and walked off. She got a good distance and hid behind a tree and leaned against
it and took a deep breath. She peeked and saw Nick gone. She felt someone grab her arm and she turned and saw Nick.
“Hello, Brizee,” Nick
said.
“Hi,” Brizee said not
looking at him.
“Didn’t think I knew it
was you, did you,” Nick said.
“I knew,” Brizee said.
“Why did you leave me?”
Nick asked.
“I explained in the note,”
Brizee said.
“What note,” Nick said.
“I left you a note,” Brizee
said.
“I didn’t get a note,”
Nick said.
“Well, Willa must have threw
it away,” Brizee said.
“What does Willa have to do
with this,” Nick said.
“I don’t know, maybe because
I found her in your bed, well, our bed,” Brizee said quietly.
“And was I there with her?”
Nick asked.
“No,” Brizee said.
“I came home and no one was
there and your stuff was gone,” Nick said.
“Well, she was there, okay,
I know what I saw,” Brizee said.
“So that’s it, you leave
and everything is over,” Nick said. Brizee turned away from him. Alicia, Tanya, Carly, and Melissa came up to them.
Chapter 2
Nick stood there looking at Brizee. She looked at her friends and walked off. Melissa, Carly, and Tanya followed. Alicia
looked at him.
“I want to know what’s
going on, how do you two know each other?” Alicia asked.
“Ask her, if she hadn’t
told you already,” Nick said. He went back to the picnic table and sat down.
“Nick, what was that about,”
Brian said.
“Nothing, just someone I knew,”
Nick said.
“We’ve never met her,”
Howie said.
“I don’t want to talk
about it,” Nick said angrily. He got up and went to the basketball court and sat down. Brian came over and sat down
beside him. Nick looked at him. Brian sat tears in Nick’s eyes.
“Frack, you can talk to me,”
Brian said.
“I can’t,” Nick
said softly.
“Frack,” Brian said. Nick
looked around.
“Promise you won’t tell
anyone, including Leighanne,” Nick said.
“I promise,” Brian said.
“Her name is Brizee, I met her
a year ago, we were seeing each other for two months, and then we got married, I know, it was too soon but it felt so right,
anyways, we kept everything a secret, no one knew about it, one night while we were in New York, she came home and found Willa
in our bed, she left a note and packed up her stuff and left, I’ve been trying to find her ever since,” Nick said
softly. He looked at Brian. Brian was staring at him.
“Nick, why didn’t you
tell me,” Brian said.
“I don’t know, I didn’t
want anyone yelling at me, I wanted to do something on my own,” Nick said.
“Well, let’s say bye to
everyone and go get your wife back,” Brian said quietly. Nick nodded and they told everyone they were going somewhere
and left. They walked out to the parking lot and saw Brizee, Alicia, Tanya, Carly, and Melissa. Nick looked at Brian and they
went over to the girls.
“Brizee, why didn’t you
tell us,” Alicia said.
“Same reason Nick didn’t
tell anyone,” Brian said.
“You mean, Nick didn’t
tell you or AJ or Howie?” Alicia asked.
“Nope, he just told me a few
minutes ago, AJ and Howie are still clueless,” Brian said.
“I can’t believe this,”
Alicia said.
“Brizee, I’m here to tell
you that Nick didn’t do anything with Willa, she’s been trying to get him back for years and he doesn’t
want her back, he doesn’t want to even touch her, when you found her in the bed, Nick wasn’t even in town, he
was in New York, with me, Kevin, AJ, and Howie, on band business, he came home to an empty house and your stuff was gone,
I think that was part of Willa’s plan, to make you think something had happened but didn’t, so she can get you
out of the way to have Nick back,” Brian said.
“But she didn’t know we
were married, no one did,” Brizee said.
“She figured he was seeing someone,
wife or girlfriend, there was someone in the way of her getting Nick back, but any plan she has or had wouldn’t work,”
Brian said.
“I know you are his best friend
and know him better than anyone, but I can’t get that image out of my head, I shared that bed with him, and now, I can’t
go back,” Brizee said. Brian sighed.
Chapter 3
Alicia, Melissa, Carly, and Tanya stood there looking at Brizee. Nick stood there.
“I guess all that time we spent
together was for nothing, that our marriage means nothing, that what we said when we got married meant nothing, well, Brizee,
I would like to say thank you,” Nick said.
“For what,” Brizee said.
“For ripping my heart out and
stomping on it!” Nick said angrily before turning and walking off. Brizee covered her face with her hands. Alicia looked
at Brian and wrote down a number.
“Give this to him,” Alicia
said. Brian looked at it.
“Whose number is this?”
Brian asked.
“Hers, give that to Nick,”
Alicia said.
“Ali,” Brizee said crying.
“You two are going to work this
out,” Alicia said. They went home. Alicia sat her down and sat down.
“Brizee, he is your husband
and he was faithful, you left him for no reason, you played his ex’s game and she won, you need to go back to him,”
Alicia said.
“Ali,” Brizee said.
“Briz, he’s upset and
angry but he wants you back,” Alicia said.
“I can’t, Ali, it’s
too hard,” Brizee said.
“Look, I’m calling him,”
Alicia said grabbing Brizee’s cell phone and looked through the numbers and found Nick’s and dialed it.
“Hello,” Nick said.
“Nick, this is Alicia, Brizee’s
friend,” Alicia said.
“Oh hey,” Nick said.
“Brizee would like to work things
out, she wasn’t sure when she saw you but by the time we got home, she was talking about coming to see you, how would
you like to come over for dinner, Brizee’s cooking and she remembers your favorite,” Alicia said. Brizee just
sat there.
“Okay, where?” Nick asked.
Alicia told him the address and they hung up. Alicia looked at her.
“Go start cooking,” Alicia
said.
“He probably won’t come,”
Brizee said.
“Well, then we’ll have
leftovers to eat,” Alicia said. Brizee went to the store and got stuff to cook and went home and started cooking dinner.
She was making homemade pizza with Nick’s favorite toppings. Two hours
later, the food was ready. Alicia was watching out the front window. Brizee sat on the couch.
“He’s not coming,”
Brizee said.
“He’s here, Briz,”
Alicia said. She went to the door and opened it and saw Nick standing there.
Chapter 4
Brizee got up and joined Alicia at the door and looked at Nick. He looked at her.
“Come in,” Brizee said.
Nick came in and Alicia closed the door.
“Welcome, I’ll be upstairs,”
Alicia said. She ran upstairs.
“Um, food is ready, I made your
favorite,” Brizee said. Nick nodded and followed her into the kitchen. He sat down and she fixed him a plate and sat
it in front of him and he ate. She sat down.
“So you really wanted me to
come over, so you had Alicia call for you,” Nick said. Brizee sighed and looked at him. She looked at her plate.
“She insisted that we work this
out, I didn’t exactly stop her from calling and everything she said was true,” Brizee said. He looked at her.
“So you want to work this out,”
Nick said.
“What do you want me to do,
name it,” Brizee said.
“You are coming with me,”
Nick said getting up. Brizee looked at him and got up and he took her hand and took her out to his car and went home. He parked
and got out. She got out and he took her hand and pulled her into the house and closed the door and locked it. He pushed her
against the door and kissed her deeply.
“You remember how good it was,
Briz, you do remember we always made love every single night, in every single room of this house,” Nick said as he kissed
her neck. She moaned and held onto him. He carried her upstairs to the bedroom and collapsed on the bed and removed their
clothes. He slid a condom on and he made love to her all night long. The next morning, he took her home. She walked in and
Alicia came downstairs.
“Where were you,” Alicia
said.
“With my husband,” Brizee
said. She sat down.
“What happened,” Alicia
said.
“We made love all night long,”
Brizee said.
“So what happens now,”
Alicia said.
“I don’t know, it’s
up to him if he wants me back, but he didn’t talk this morning, I think I screwed up,” Brizee said. Alicia sighed.
Chapter 5
Three days later, Alicia was home alone when the doorbell rang. She got up and opened it and saw a man standing there
with an envelope.
“Brizee Carter?” he asked.
“No, I’m her best friend,
she’s not home right now,” Alicia said. He handed her the envelope.
“This is for her,” he
said. He left. Alicia closed the door and opened it and saw divorce papers. She called Tanya. Tanya has been dating AJ since
the day in the park.
“What’s up,” Tanya
said.
“Nick sent Briz divorce papers,
he wants a divorce!” Alicia said.
“I know because he met someone
else, her name is Kelly,” Tanya said.
“Briz really wanted to work
things out,” Alicia said.
“Hide the divorce papers or
rip them up, get rid of them,” Tanya whispered. Alicia said bye and hung up. She ripped up the divorce papers into little
bitty pieces and put them in a bag and stuffed them down in the bottom of the trash can. Brizee came home.
“Hey,” Brizee said.
“Hey Briz,” Alicia said.
“You okay?” Brizee asked.
“I’m fine, how are you,”
Alicia said.
“I’m okay,” Brizee
said. She sat down.
“What’s wrong,”
Alicia said.
“I miss Nick, I still love him,
he won’t answer my calls,” Brizee said.
“He’s probably busy, give
him time,” Alicia said.
“You’re probably right,”
Brizee said. She went upstairs. Alicia sat there thinking. Brizee can’t know that Nick wants a divorce.
Chapter 6
Three months went by. Brizee gave up on Nick and just returned to her own life as it was. Nick was engaged to Kelly,
according to Tanya. Alicia was home alone when the doorbell rang. She opened the door and saw Nick and Brian standing there.
“Hi, come in,” Alicia
said. They came in. Alicia closed the door.
“Brizee isn’t here, she’s
out of town,” Alicia said.
“Where?” Nick asked.
“She went to her parents to
tell them everything,” Alicia said.
“Did she sign the papers?”
Nick asked.
“What papers?” Alicia
asked.
“The divorce papers,”
Nick said.
“Never got any divorce papers,”
Alicia said.
“My lawyer said he delivered
them and her best friend took them, that would be you,” Nick said. The
phone rang.
“Hello, hey Briz, what, congrats,
yeah, you know I will be, okay, see you, bye,” Alicia said. She hung up.
“Well?” Nick asked.
“She’s at the airport,
she’s walking to her car right now and she’ll be here shortly, she has some news,” Alicia said sitting down.
Nick and Brian sat down.
“So where are the papers?”
Nick asked.
“I told you, never saw any papers,”
Alicia said. The front door opened and closed and Brizee came in and saw them.
They looked at her.
“Hi guys,” Brizee said.
Alicia got up and hugged Brizee.
“We have to talk,” Nick
said.
“What about,” Brizee said.
“Our marriage, I want a divorce,”
Nick said.
“You might want to rethink that
decision,” Brizee said. Nick looked at her.
“And why is that,” Nick
said.
“I’m pregnant,”
Brizee said. Nick stood there.
Chapter 7
Nick stood there looking at her. Brian got up and hugged Brizee. Alicia helped her sit down.
“You’re pregnant,”
Nick said.
“Yes, it’s yours,”
Brizee said.
“Is this some kind of joke,”
Nick said.
“No,” Brizee said.
“I want a divorce and you come
back with I’m pregnant,” Nick said.
“I am pregnant, Nick, it’s
your baby, I’m almost three months and you are the only guy I have slept with, I haven’t been with anyone else,”
Brizee said.
“We had protection!” Nick
said.
“Well one of them didn’t
work,” Brizee said.
“I sent divorce papers three
days after that night,” Nick said.
“I never saw any divorce papers,”
Brizee said.
“They were delivered and Alicia
knows where they are,” Nick said.
“Okay, fine, you got me, I got
the papers, saw them, and ripped them up before Brizee got home from the store, okay, that’s why she never saw them
and that’s why she doesn’t know about them, I destroyed the papers before she saw them,” Alicia said. Nick
sat down.
“All this time, I gave up on
waiting for you to make your choice, but you already did and I didn’t know it,” Brizee said. She went upstairs.
Nick sat there.
“Nick,” Brian said. Nick
went upstairs and found Brizee’s room and saw her lying on the bed. She looked and saw him.
Chapter 8
Brizee looked out the window as Nick sat on the bed. She looked at him.
“I’m not going to abandon
you or our baby, I need time to think about all this, but I will come to you when I had enough time,” Nick said. Brizee
nodded. Nick stroked her cheek and put his hand on her stomach. He leaned down and kissed her forehead and left. Brizee closed
her eyes and went to sleep.
Nick went home and found Kelly on the couch. She looked at him and saw his face.
“Nick,” Kelly said.
“I’m still married, Brizee’s
friend, Alicia, destroyed the divorce papers before Brizee even saw them,” Nick said. He sat down. Kelly sat down.
“So are you getting new ones?”
Kelly asked.
“I don’t think I can,
Brizee’s pregnant, it’s mine, she wouldn’t lie, she’s the one who left me, I want to be there for
the baby,” Nick said.
“Then you know what you should
do, Nick, I’ll get my stuff out by tomorrow,” Kelly said.
“Kel,” Nick said.
“Nick, it’s okay, we’ll
always be friends, you need to be there for your baby, and Brizee will need you,” Kelly said. Nick nodded. Kelly hugged
him.
“I don’t hate you, you
slept with her before we got together and you were honest with me about being married to her, she obviously said something
to Alicia about wanting you back if Alicia destroyed the papers, she feels guilty for leaving you, while you were filing for
divorce, she was waiting patiently for your decision, do you regret filing for a divorce?” Kelly asked.
“Yeah, I do, I’m so sorry,”
Nick said.
“It’s okay, Nick, she
is the one who has your heart,” Kelly said. She went upstairs and got her stuff and left. Nick called Brizee. Alicia
answered the phone.
“Alicia?” Nick asked.
“You better get to the hospital,”
Alicia said. Nick ran out the door and went to the hospital and found Alicia, Tanya, and AJ.
“Room 223,” Alicia said.
Chapter 9
Nick went down the hall and walked in and saw Brizee lying on the bed with the doctor checking her over. The doctor
looked and saw him.
“I’m sorry, family only,”
the doctor said.
“Dr. Martin, it’s okay,
he’s my husband,” Brizee said. Nick went to the other side of the bed and Brizee held his hand. He covered her
hand with his other one.
“What happened,” Nick
said.
“I was lying on the bed when
I felt pains in my stomach, Ali brought me here and called Tanya and AJ,” Brizee said.
“The baby?” Nick asked.
“The baby is fine, Brizee,”
Dr. Martin said.
“Really?” Brizee said.
“Yes,” Dr. Martin said.
“What about the pain she felt?”
Nick asked.
“It could be stress, I want
her calm and relaxed for the next couple of weeks and then she can come back for a checkup,” Dr. Martin said. Nick helped
Brizee up. Dr. Martin left the room. Nick helped Brizee get dressed. She looked up at him.
“Nick,” Brizee said. Nick
kissed her deeply.
“I love you, Briz, you are the
one for me, I want you back,” Nick said. Brizee smiled and hugged him.
“I love you, too,” Brizee
said.
“Briz, please don’t leave
me again, I couldn’t bear it if you did,” Nick said. Brizee shook her head.
“It would kill me if I left
you again, I can’t leave you again,” Brizee said. He kissed her softly.
“Come home, baby,” Nick
said.
“Oh god yes,” Brizee said.
He put his arm around her waist and walked out with her to the waiting room where Alicia, Tanya, AJ, Brian, Leighanne, Howie,
and Leigh were waiting. They stood up.
“Briz,” Alicia said.
“Everything is fine, the baby’s
fine, everything is how it should be, oh Ali, I’m moving out,” Brizee said.
“You two are back together?”
Alicia asked.
“Yup,” Brizee said as
Nick kissed her forehead.
“It’s about time,”
Brian said.
“Frick!” Nick said.
“Well, it’s about time
you were happy again,” Brian said. Nick shook his head.
“Bye guys, my wife and I are
going home, she needs to be stress free and calm and relaxed,” Nick said. They walked out of the hospital and went home
to his house. He carried her upstairs to the bedroom and laid her on the bed.
“By the way, I’ve only
shared this bed with you, no one else,” Nick said. Brizee nodded and laid back against the pillows.
“Weren’t you engaged?”
Brizee asked.
“I ended it, well, it was mutual,
I told her everything, she knew that my heart wasn’t hers, it has always belonged to you,” Nick said.
“Oh god, I never should have
left, I was so stupid,” Brizee said.
“Hey, that’s the past,
it’s a fresh start, no more thinking of the past, we have a new life ahead of us, we are married, we are having a baby,
we are having everything we wanted when we got married,” Nick said. Brizee smiled and pulled him down on the bed and
he held her close.
Chapter 10
Six months later, Brizee was nine months along and she was due any day. Nick was watching TV as Brizee slowly came
down the stairs. She sat down next to him.
“You okay?” Nick asked.
“Yeah, just wish it was time,
I feel like a whale,” Brizee said.
“Our baby is inside you, it
will come out when it wants to see us,” Nick said.
“I think it is now, my water
broke,” Brizee said. He helped her up and they went to the hospital. He called the guys on the way. He helped her into
the hospital and got a nurse and they took her to a room where they got her on the bed. Dr. Kelly came in and checked her.
“The baby is in distress, we
have to perform a C-section,” Dr. Kelly said. They went to the operating room. Nick had to stay in the waiting room.
He sat there staring at the floor when Brian, Leighanne, Howie, Leigh, and AJ came in. They all sat and waited. A couple hours
later, Dr. Kelly came out. Nick stood up.
“Nick, I’m sorry, but
we lost them,” Dr. Kelly said.
“What,” Nick said.
“Something went wrong and we
lost both Brizee and the baby, I’m sorry, Nick,” Dr. Kelly said. Nick shook his head and closed his eyes. Brian
hugged him. Nick cried on his shoulder. Kevin and Kristin came in. Leighanne told them what happened. Kevin came over and
took over for Brian and hugged Nick.
“They’re gone, Kev,”
Nick said crying.
“I know, Nick,” Kevin
said softly. They all took Nick home and he laid down on the bed and went to sleep crying. Brian, Leighanne, Kevin, Kristin,
AJ, Howie, and Leigh stood in the living room.
“I’ll stay so he won’t
be alone,” AJ said. They all left. AJ went upstairs and sat in the chair in the room and watched Nick sleep.
Epilogue
Nick stood there in the cemetery watching his wife’s casket being lowered into the ground and then watched his
baby’s casket being lowered into the ground. Brian, Leighanne, Kevin, Kristin, Howie, Leigh, and AJ stood behind him.
Beside them was Bob, Ginger, Jane, Aaron, Angel, BJ, and Leslie. Nick stood there staring at the two holes in the ground that
held the caskets of his wife and baby. Brian and Kevin moved up beside him.
“My own little family, gone,”
Nick said softly.
“You have us,” Brian said.
Nick nodded.
“I know, how can I move on,”
Nick said.
“Just take it one day at a time,
Nick, Brizee will always be with you, as will your baby, they are together watching over you,” Brian said. Nick hugged
Brian. They all went home. Nick stood out on the back porch and watched the ocean. He had to go on. He knew Brizee was watching
over him along with their baby. He knew he had to go on with his life.
The End!
